Popular Computer Questions-Microsoft Update

What does Microsoft Update do?

Microsoft Update offers an efficient, easy way to keep Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, and other Microsoft programs current. When you visit the Microsoft Update Web site, it analyzes your system for what it needs and tailors its recommendations to the Microsoft software installed on your PC. These include:

High-priority updates that are critical to the security of your computer—for example, boosters for system security and reliability or the latest protection against spam for those who use Microsoft Outlook. Without these security updates, your computer may be more vulnerable to attack from cyber crooks and malicious software.
Optional updates that help keep your computer running smoothly or simply make using it more fun with, for example, the latest versions of Windows Media Player or Windows MovieMaker.

Microsoft Update supports Microsoft Windows XP, Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 (SP3) or later, and Windows Server 2003. It provides updates for Microsoft Office XP, Office 2003, Microsoft SQL Server, and Microsoft Exchange Server. Updates for more Microsoft programs will be added in the future.

I want to know if I can upgrade my PC from Win98 to WinXP, and if so how can I do it?

Yes 1st before you start your PC INSERT YOUR XP DISK IN DRIVE. If your PC start from CD then you be fine just follow the INSTRUCTION but if your PC do not start from CD then you have to tell your BIOS 1st BOOT Device is CDROM.

To do this start your PC and start pressing the DEL key on your Keyboard. This will help you to ENTER BIOS SETTINGS. Look for 1st BOOT DEVICE it could be FLOPPY OR HDD AND LAST WILL BE CDROM.

Now here if you have FLOPPY CHANGE THAT TO CDROM AND SAVE AND EXIT BIOS.

IF YOU HAVE HDD THEN CHANGE THAT TO CDROM AND SAVE AND EXIT

THIS SHOULD START YOUR CDROM AS 1ST BOOT DEVICE.
