The purpose of this short article is to give a little background information on USB Flash drives, and to help you find a quality one to suit your needs.

A USB flash drive consists of a NAND-type flash memory data storage device USB interface. USB flash drives are removable and rewritable, and weigh less than 2 ounces. Storage capacities typically range currently up to 64 GB with steady improvements in size and price per gigabyte.

USB flash drives offer potential advantages over other portable storage devices, particularly the floppy disk. They have a more compact shape, operate faster, hold more data, and operate more reliably due to their lack of moving parts.

Computer technicians who used to carry around many books full of CD’s for computer support find the flash drives to be very desirable. You can store Hardware Drivers, Music, Videos, Documents/Spreadsheets, Pictures and on the larger sized drives you can store whole operating systems.

Flash drives make a great gift for anyone with a computer.

Here is a tip, if you are running Microsoft Windows XP, press CTRL+ALT+DEL at the same time. Click on Task Manager. Select the performance Tab.

Take a look at your total, and available memory in the Physical memory quadrant of the window. If your available memory is 20 percent or less of what your total memory is, it is time to take a look at your computer. Either you have a lot of applications open, not enough memory, or some combination of the two. In any case if you are using more than 80 percent of your available resources, then your computer will run inefficiently.

If its time for a memory upgrade please visit this site to purchase memory.

Laptop Memory: Crucial 2GB Kit DDR2 PC2-4200 240-PIN DIMM

Here is another tip. When you setup a new computer, setup two accounts, the first being an administrative account that you can use to install software, and a Power user account to use for your daily activities. This will prevent spyware from easily installing on your computer.
